The GIWA Wheat Council monitors the long term sustainability of the noodle wheat industry in Western Australia.
The grower, industry and research members of the GIWA Wheat Council provide industry good services to the export oriented Western Australian wheat industry by addressing value chain issues:
- Support for wheat receival standards in WA, administered nationally by Grain Trade Australia Variety rationalisation http://www.graintrade.org.au/
- Support for varietal accreditation and rationalisation, administered nationally by Wheat Quality Australia http://wheatquality.com.au/
- Support for market development, technical, functional and quality research carried out nationally by the Australian Export Grain Innovation Centre http://aegic.org.au/
- Liaison with national and state agriculture departments and grain industry bodies such as the Grain Industry Market Access Forum (GIMAF), National Working Party Grain Protection (NWPGP), National Residue Survey (NRS), Grains Research & Development Corporation (GRDC), Grain Growers Limited (GGL), Grain Producers Australia (GPA), WA Farmers Grains Council, WA Grain Growers, PGA Grains Council, GIWA allied project GRDC OnFarm Storage, the Grower Group Alliance, and individual grower groups
- Noodle wheat industry communications support for Korean and Japanese noodle wheat markets, specifically with AEGIC and CBH for Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Japan Flour Millers’ Association.
